More than a stop —
a destination.

El Taconazo sits at the intersection of two traditions: the ritual of a perfect cup of coffee, and the art of a well-crafted drink. We opened our doors on South Kedzie Avenue with a simple conviction — that a great neighborhood spot should feel equally at home at 7 a.m. and 10 p.m.

By day, our barista team pulls shots with the patience they deserve, pairing single-origin pour-overs with fresh pastries from local bakers. By night, the same space transforms: the lights dim, the music softens, and our cocktail program takes over with seasonal menus that honor both classic technique and Mexican-inspired flavor.

This is your living room with better coffee. Your after-work ritual. Your Saturday morning catch-up spot. Whatever the hour, we save you a seat.

Built on patience,
served with pride.

The name El Taconazo comes from a phrase that means more than it first appears — it's about making an impression, leaving a mark, and doing so with confidence. That's the energy we bring to every drink we pour and every table we set.

Our founders grew up in Chicago's west side, raised on the idea that community is built at shared tables. After years in the hospitality industry across the city, they wanted to create something that felt like home — a place where regulars are known by name, where the espresso machine is tuned to perfection, and where the cocktail list changes with the seasons but never with the trends.

Every ingredient is chosen deliberately. Every detail is considered. The result is a space that feels both timeless and unmistakably now.

What our neighbors are saying.

I come here every Saturday morning before my wife wakes up. The pour-over is the best I've had in Chicago, and the baristas actually remember my order. It's become my quiet ritual.

— A regular, since day one

The Smoked Paloma changed how I think about margaritas. I brought friends from out of town and they couldn't stop talking about it. Now we make a point to stop here on every visit.

— A neighborhood friend

Finally, a place in the neighborhood that feels intentional without being pretentious. Great coffee, great drinks, and the kind of music that makes you want to stay an extra hour.

We're waiting for you.
